The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury saloon and was officially introduced in 1972 succeeding previous Mercedes-Benz models dating back to the mid-1950s. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the S-Class has, over many years, debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features and safety systems (such as seatbelt pre-tensioners), simply put the S-class is an automotive benchmark. In 1998 after replacing the more angular W140 S-class, the all new S-Class was completely restyled in 1999 with a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor and as with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and active ventilated seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations).

Fully adjustable (front and rear) both the driver and occupants will find the perfect position ahead of their journey and as the driver starts the car, there's little to confirm that the 5.0 litre V8 engine is running apart from the visual clues from the crystal clear instrument cluster. Being the range topping S-Class, this long-wheel-base version (rear passengers have nearly more legroom than 1st-class on Lufthansa) it easy to understand why business executives choose the S-Class, its simply perfect whisking its occupants across Europe in absolute luxury, but don't be fooled as with 302bhp the S500 is now slouch and with its perfect Active Body Control system this Limo can certainly hustle when needed.....but, that's just missing the point!
